The 4000 Foundation, Limited proudly announces plans for Rail Fair to be held Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Copeland Park, Rose and Clinton Streets, LaCrosse. Since 1991, Rail Fair has grown to become one of the premier summer railroad events in the Midwest. This 23rd annual event celebrates the area’s railroad heritage while raising funds to maintain and restore the LaCrosse Short Line Railroad display in Copeland Park. This year, we are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the LaCrosse Short Line Railroad display.
The Rail Fair traditionally hosts vendors from six states offering over 200 tables of railroad related merchandise. Rail Fair patrons will have the opportunity to buy, sell and trade model toy and antique trains, books, magazines, railroad memorabilia, railroad art, hobby supplies and many more related items.
The LaCrosse Short Line Railroad display will be open for guided tours. The big steam engine whistle can be blown for a small donation. Several railroad exhibits and displays will also be offered, including a working telegraph display, where visitors can send and receive telegraph messages to and from Grand Crossing Tower. Concessions will be provided.
Canadian Pacific Railway and BNSF Railway are again promising to provide modern locomotive displays for public tours at their respective facilities.
Admission to Rail Fair is $5.00 Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
All proceeds from this event are used to maintain and restore the LaCrosse Short Line Railroad display. The 4000 Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1989.
