Being saved (06/30/2013)
From: Lynette Palecek

Winona

God’s Holy Word makes it clear that we all need to be saved to go to heaven. Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve sinned. We were each born with a sinful flesh. When we were old enough mentally to know the difference between good and evil, we needed to be saved to go to heaven.

Rom. 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” John 3:3, 5-7 says, “Jesus answered and said under him, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God,’’’ and Jesus answered, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

You can’t put off being saved because no one knows when he or she is going to die. Heb. 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

We can’t save ourselves. Titus 3:5 says, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” Eph. 2:8,9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Jesus Christ has provided for your salvation. I Peter 2:24 says, “Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” Also see John 3:16.

You must accept Jesus Christ for salvation. Acts 16:31 says “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...” Rom. 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Also see John 1:12

Now is the time to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. See II Cor. 6:2 and Heb. 3:7-8

After you become a Christian, you should do the following:

1. Accept God’s Word about you once you have asked Him to save you. See John 5:24;

2. Confess Jesus Christ publicly. See Matt. 10:32;

3. Be baptized and go to a Bible believing church. See Acts 2:41;

4. Read the Scriptures and pray daily. See John 15:7; and

5. Obey the Lord Jesus Christ. See John 14:15.
