Berg, Anita H. (07/07/2013)

Anita H. Berg, age 83, of Winona, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona, Minnesota.

Anita Helen was born September 23, 1929, in Wabasha, Minn., to Edward and Margaret (Stamschror) Heaser. On August 8, 1953, she married Lester H. Berg at St. Mary’s Church, Minneiska, Minn., and he preceded her in death November 22, 2007. Anita received her R.N. degree in 1951 from the College of St. Teresa, Winona. She worked as an instructor in OBGYN at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She is a past member of the Minnesota Nurses Association. She and her husband owned Berg’s Truck Bodies for 32 years, retiring in 1987. She was involved in the Goodview Business Association for many years.

Anita enjoyed reading, flowers, spending time with her family and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

She is survived by six children: Mary (Fred) Kelly, Elgin, William (Carol) Berg, Winona, Jean (David) Miller, Winona, Linda (Rock) Arnoldy, Goodview, Patricia (Stephan) Speltz, Rollingstone, and Karen (James) Gernes, Winona; and grandchildren: Amy Berg, Doug Berg, Heidi Miller, Sarah Miller, Adam Arnoldy, Ashley (Tony) Troke, Zach Speltz, Chance Speltz (fiancée Jessica Fruechte), Anne Speltz, Gabe Speltz, Allie Gernes, Grant Gernes and great grandchild Emmette Cady; a brother, Donald (Margaret) Heaser, Eyota Minn., a sister, Greta (Robert) Konkel, Minneiska, Minn.; and sisters-in-law Rose Heaser, Neosho, Mo., and Patricia Berg-Steinhoff, Winona Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, David Heaser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Minneiska, with Rev. Robert Stamschror officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minneiska.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the “Gift A Room” or the Scholarship Fund, both at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona, Minn., and the MS Society.
