He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston, serving as elder and session member. Jim was involved in the Lewiston Cancer Support Group, served on the Lewiston Creamery Board, belonged to the Lewiston American Legion, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a DeKalb seed dealer.

He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards, and working on his farm, but most of all, being involved in his family’s lives.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; a daughter, Mary Sue (David) Kreidermacher of Utica; a son, Jim (Beth) Olson of Lewiston; five grandchildren: Kelly (Bob) Brooke, Brad (Cari) Kreidermacher, Todd (Amber) Kreidermacher, Trent (Kristin) Olson and Katie Olson; great-grandchildren: Madison and Coleman Brooke, Jordyn and Hayden Kreidermacher and Riley Huntley, with another great-granddaughter arriving in October. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Edwards of Utica and a sister-in-law, Audrey Olson of Winona. Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Baer, Gladys Bain and Margaret Baer, and a brother, Robert Olson.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston, with the Reverend Tim Gerarden officiating. Burial will follow in Fremont Scotch Cemetery, with military graveside honors being conducted by the Lewiston American Legion Post.

Friends may call one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Please share a memory of Jim at his online guestbook and view his Tribute Video when it becomes available at www.hofffuneral.com. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
