I-90 Dresbach Bridge piling testing July 17-24 (07/21/2013)
Motorists may encounter intermittent loud noises while traveling near the Interstate 90 corridor by the Dresbach Bridge beginning Wednesday, July 17, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Bridge crews will begin statnamic testing of the bridge pilings to assess the load carrying capacity of deep foundations. Area residents and motorists may hear very loud “banging” noises as the testing occurs.

Dates for the testing are: Wednesday, July 17, Monday, July 22, and Wednesday, July 24. Testing will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

This $187.5 million project is a cooperative effort between the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation and will continue through 2016. The project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing the Highway 61/14 and I-90 interchange.

The new I-90 river crossing will meet current structural and geometric standards, and the new interchange will improve traffic safety, capacity and access on and between Highway 61/14 and I-90.
