Gordon, Rita Mary (Maas) (07/21/2013)

Rita Mary (Maas) Gordon, beloved wife of John M. Gordon and adored mother of Linda Wilberg and Vicki Riddell, passed peacefully at home in Tucson, Ariz., on July 1, 2013. Rita was born on March 2, 1934, to Edmund and Esther (Mersch) Maas, in Winona. Rita and John were high school sweethearts together for 64 years. They married October 25, 1952, in Winona.

Rita was a beautiful and lively lady who traveled the world, loved ballet, theater, Canasta and Dominoes. The family is so close that Rita and John, Linda, her husband Scott, Vicki, and her husband, Charles, all live in the same retirement community of SaddleBrooke, where they received continued love and support during Rita’s fight against cancer, heart and lung issues.

Rita is survived by husband John, daughters: Linda (Scott) Wilberg and Vicki (Charles) Riddell; grandchildren: Ashley, Chelsea and Jake (Betsy) Wilberg; siblings: Esther (Edward) Aldinger, Bernard (Lore) Maas, Kathleen (Freddy) Frickson, John (Mary) Maas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edmund, and grandson, Christopher Wilberg.

Lovely Rita will be missed, but her family is happy that she is now dancing in paradise.
