I see where the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is suggesting a cheaper bridge to replace our Highway 43 Bridge across the Mississippi River. This doesn’t surprise me. If it’s for Winona, cheaper is good enough. If Rochester were on the Mississippi, we’d be looking at a top of the line bridge with gold rivets.
On the other hand, I suppose we should feel lucky they didn’t pick one up at the used bridge store, or find us a hand-me-down bridge from some more important river community.
