Edward L. “Sonny” Dzwonkowski Jr., age 70, of Benton, Arkansas, and formerly of Winona, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2013, in Benton.
Sonny was born on January 4, 1943, in Winona, to Edward L. and Helen (Lampe) Dzwonkowski. He honorably served his country with the United States Army as a heavy equipment operator while stationed in Europe.
He worked for many years at Winona Monument Company, and will be remembered as a talented engraver, and who enjoyed being an artist in his spare time.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary, Benton, Arkansas, step-daughters: Kay Floyd, Benton, Arkansas; and Ann (Greg Klink) Dingman, Winona; step-granddaughters: Kelsie Brandes, Benton, Arkansas, who was very special to Sonny, Nicole Klink and Hailey (Tom) Denzer, Winona; step-grandson, Koltan; sisters: Carolyn (Gene) Prenot, Winona, Yvonne Poulin, Waseca, Minn.; brothers: Fran (Jean) Dzwonkowski, Winona; and Steven Dzwonkowski, Winona; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He was a buddy to all and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Winona. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 of Winona.
Sonny will be laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
