Real estate foreclosures drop (08/04/2013)
For the seventh consecutive month, the number of real estate foreclosures in Winona County has dropped compared to a year ago. There were three during July 2013, compared to eight in July 2012. The total to date for 2013 is 29, exactly half of the 58 recorded at the end of July 2012. Meanwhile, the number of property sales during July was up compared to a year earlier. During July 2013, there were 96, compared to 76 during July 2012. County Recorder Bob Bambenek said the Winona County numbers reflect current national trends of fewer mortgage foreclosures and increased numbers of property sales.
