Alleged rape in Witoka (08/04/2013)
By Chris Rogers

A 56-year-old Witoka-area woman was sleeping on her couch when she awoke to find a man on top of her. Gaylin Lynn Eide, 54, of Witoka, allegedly entered the woman’s unlocked house and attempted to rape her at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.

Winona County Sheriff’s deputies said that Eide admitted to being there, but claimed that he could not remember much else. Eide told deputies he was drunk and on pain medication. Witnesses confirmed that Eide was at the residence at around 1 a.m., according to the report.

Eide was arrested and referred for fourth-degree sexual assault, and first-degree burglary.
