This Thursday evening, August 8, there is an informational 7:00 p.m. meeting at the Winona County Government Center, 4th and Main, with a presentation regarding the Planning Commissionís proposed amendments, including an audience question session.
The proposed amendments will eliminate the newly-designated non-conforming status of the likely hundreds of affected existing structures in the county, resulting from the zoning ordinance changes that took effect in March of 2011. Non-conformity is a property-rights threat that affects property values and loan values, and that may eventually result in the total elimination of the non-conforming structures.
The newspaper ad that provided notice of the meeting may be found at: http://www.co.winona.mn.us/sites/winonacounty.new.rschooltoday.com/files/Aug%208%20Revised%20Notice.pdf. Note: feedlot setbacks are not on this agenda.
It is important to attend this meeting, so that there is a public showing of the true broad support for these changes. It is likely that the narrow segment of the public that is opposed to the changes will be out in full show and voice.
Please be sure to attend this meeting, so that the Planning Commission and the County Board can move ahead with an awareness of and in full confidence of the broad support for the changes. You might even carry something to express your support.
