Protecting public health (08/07/2013)
From: Ray and Margaret Kiihne

As residents of downtown Winona, living adjacent to the Highway 43 truck route, we want to thank members of the Citizens for Environmental Quality Committee for their essential and persistent work to protect public health.

Bea Hoffman, Holly Lenz, and John Nosek have recommended that the monitoring of diesel fumes and airborne silica dust begin immediately. A baseline is needed now in order to effectively compare it with data collected in the future.

This committee has studied the issues; they bring facts and solid recommendations to the city Planning Commission. Their findings and proposals deserve to be listened to, heeded, and followed by that Commission and by our City Council.
