Broken bones, mace, and assault referrals — that is how a bar fight at Sloppy Joe’s bar ended in the early hours of Saturday, August 10. At 12:30 a.m. officers arrested Ryan Thomas Anderson, 36, of Winona, for third-degree assault, fifth-degree assault, and third-degree burglary, and Keith Joseph Srock, 31, of Winona, for third-degree assault and obstructing the legal process with force.
According to witnesses, it all began when Anderson touched women inappropriately in the bar and, at one point, reportedly pulled his pants down. The bartender asked Anderson to leave at that point, and he complied, but shortly afterwards he allegedly charged back in and knocked the bartender and a patron to the ground. Anderson was forcibly escorted out again, but he rushed the door again, and knocked the bartender to the ground again, according to the report. The second time around, Srock was reportedly holding the bartender’s arms. Police said it was unclear whether Srock was trying to break up the dispute or help Anderson knock down the bartender. In any case, the results were unfortunate for the bartender, who suffered a compound fracture of his leg.
Srock and Anderson had left the scene when officers arrived but were found hiding by a nearby garage, according to the report. Anderson was arrested without incident, but Srock reportedly refused to lie down and be handcuffed. After minutes of struggling with Srock, officers sprayed him with mace, police officials said.
