From Wasioja to Washington - The saviors of Kentucky

August 22, 7 p.m. at the Winona County History Center

This Civil War documentary tells the story of what happened to the men and boys from Wasioja and Dodge County. Wasioja is a small town in southeastern Minnesota about 20 miles west of Rochester. This film tells how “The Boys from Wasioja” were requited from a Northwestern College Seminary to muster at Fort Snelling as the Second Minnesota Co. C. The film follows them through the battles of Mill Springs, Chickamauga, the march to Atlanta and the march to the sea with General Sherman, the routing of South Carolina to the Grand march at War’s end. It then follows these brave men as they muster out at Fort Snelling. The film is directed by Samuel Henderson, written by Andi Johnson and Richard Oxley and was produced by Richard Oxley. It is sponsored by the Friends of Wasioja and the Hennepin Technical College. Free and open to the public. Find more at www.winonahistory.org or call 507-454-2723.
