Smith, Elaine M. (08/25/2013)
Elaine M. Smith, 87, of Winona, Minn., died on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at her home. She was born Elaine Streng, on March 12, 1926. She grew up and lived in the Winona, Minn, area.

On August 28, 1945, she married Clarence E. Smith in Winona, where they made their home and raised four children.

Elaine worked as an interior decorator for 25 years. Her main hobbies were bowling, rummage sales, playing cards with friends and relatives and visiting many casinos.

She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.

Elaine is survived by her brother, Duane Streng; children, Gary (Sandra) Smith, Ashli, Cheryl Harkey and Terry Smith; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; sisters, Lillian Senn and Eleanor Anderson; brother, Phillip Streng; and half-brother, Richard Neitzke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 558 E. Broadway, Winona, Minn. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Elaine will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. There will not be any visitation held on Sunday; please meet at the church for Mass.

Pallbearers will be Murph Ellinghuysen, Jerry Putz, Shannon Wood, Christopher Harkey, Jody Harkey and Jame Kujak.

The family prefers memorials be directed to St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.
