Anne Mary King, 83, died peacefully at home on August 22, 2013, in Winona. Her longtime companion and caregiver, Wallace Burley, was by her side.
Anne Mary King was born on April 23, 1930, to Frederick Joseph and Mary Claire (Ryan) King, the middle child of seven, with six brothers. Anne was the last living child of Fred and Mary. She was a lifelong resident of Winona and graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Lake Forest, Ill., in 1946.
Anne loved children and worked as a nanny in Winona for many years. She also provided care to the elderly as a home health care worker. She lovingly cared for her mother until her death in 1976. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Anne volunteered at St. Anne Extended Healthcare for 16 years. Anne enjoyed needlepoint and jigsaw puzzles and baked wonderful pies for friends and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include Wallie Burley, Winona, sister in law, Barbara King, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, William, Frederick Jr., James, John, Thomas and George; and four half-sisters, Elsa Pehler, Sheila Watkowski, Olga Neville, and Jean Fedders.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winona, with Rev. James Berning and Rev. Msgr. Roy Literski concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Visitation Commons of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Casket bearers will be Anne’s nieces and nephews.
