WSU THAD to hold open auditions Aug. 28-29 (08/28/2013)
The Winona State University Department of Theatre & Dance will hold open auditions for its fall productions of “Peter Pan” and “God of Carnage,” and for “Dancescape 2014.”

Auditions for “Peter Pan” and “God of Carnage” will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 28-29, in the Performing Arts Center.

“Dancescape 2014” auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 3 and 4, in Memorial 300 dance studio.

All auditions are open to campus and Winona community. No advance preparations are needed to audition for any of the three productions.

“Peter Pan” by J.M. Barrie is the classic story about a boy who never grows up, and his adventures on the small island of Neverland as the leader of a band of boys. Other characters include Wendy Darling and her brothers, pirates and Native Americans, and the infamous Captain Cook.

Performance dates for “Peter Pan” are Oct. 8-11 during the day for area school children, with public performances at 7 p.m. Oct. 10-11 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 12. All performances are in the Performing Arts Center Main Stage.

Professor Vivian Fusillo will direct “Peter Pan.” This will be her final production at WSU before she retires after more than 40 years of teaching and directing in the Department of Theatre & Dance.

“God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza is a dark comedy about two sets of parents who meet to discuss a schoolyard fight between their children. However, as the meeting wears on the parents’ behavior towards each other declines into childish attitudes, resulting in unruliness. Assistant Professor Heather Williams will direct.

Performance dates for “God of Carnage” are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20-24 in the Performing Arts Center Black Box Theatre. This production contains adult language and situations.
