The Lewiston Villa Nursing Home announced on August 26 that it would be closing its doors in October, after 28 years of service. The nursing home, licensed for 42 beds, is owned by the Deloughery Home Limited Partnership and managed by the Benedictine Health System (BHS), of Duluth, Minn.
According to Janet Hooey, community relations director of BHS, the nursing home has been challenged by a declining census and rising costs, while reimbursements have been flat. The lead partners involved in the Deloughery Home Limited Partnership are also currently dealing with serious health issues themselves, and feel they no longer have the resources to dedicate to Lewiston Villa.
The residents have been given a 60-day notice, and the Lewiston Villa staff will assist the 35 residents in finding and relocating to a new home.
Robert Liebig, a managing partner with Deloughery Home Limited Partnership, noted that a job fair will be held for the 65 employees of Lewiston Villa, and the company will help identify job opportunities for employees.
Lewiston Villa will be closed by October 24, 2013.
