Theatre du Mississippi announces auditions for their fall production, which is an as yet untitled full-length play by local playwright, Daniel Munson.
Auditions will be September 4th and 5th at 7:00 pm at the Historic Masonic Theater, 255 Main Street, Winona.
Performances will be October 17-20.
The play is a drama based on a historic event in 1905, when a wealthy Stockton farmer was found dead in the Mississippi. As local citizens grappled with the deepening mystery, fear set in, speculation grew. Munson was struck by how familiar this all sounded…how more than 100 years ago, we were struggling with the same fears and insecurities as we face today. When there is no clear explanation of tragedy, do we fill in the blanks for ourselves? Must we settle on an explanation, even when there is a lack of real evidence to support it? Was the farmer murdered, or did he just have a terrible accident? Was this a singular incident, or part of a sinister and dastardly plot?
The production will require 7 men and 2 women of varying ages. All community members are encouraged to audition.
Theatre du Mississippi depends on volunteers other than actors, as well. People who are interested in working on sets, lights, costumes, ushering, or concessions and hospitality may attend auditions to become involved, or can do so by emailing Theatre du Mississippi board member Peggy Sannerud at firstname.lastname@example.org or dropping a postcard to
