Carl was a devoted family man, and gave great support and love to his family and grandchildren. His faith was central to his life and family, and he was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, where he served on many church boards and sang in the church choir. Traveling, woodworking, making clocks, and gardening were some of Carl’s favorite activities.

Carl is survived by his wife, Evelyn Burfeind, Rochester, Minn.; sons, Larry (Marj) Burfeind, Blaine, Minn., Robert (Mary Kay) Burfeind, Minneapolis, Minn., Jim (Linda) Burfeind, Missoula, Mont., Glenn (Debbie) Burfeind, Kalispell, Mont., and David (Heather) Burfeind, Ellensburg, Wash.; daughter, Sheri (John) Bialke, Mountain Home, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hilma Bonow, Lewiston, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. Pastor James Heining will officiate.

Carl will be laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.
