Darlene M. Wolfe, age 87, of Fountain City, Wis., passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.
She was born on September 10, 1926, in Winona, to Sam and Meta (Laehn) Adank. She was united in marriage with Kenneth D. Wolfe on July 2, 1949, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Winona; he preceded her in death in 1988.
Darlene will be remembered for her love of reading, old-time music, and polka dancing, through which she made many friends. Darlene and Ken enjoyed traveling together, and some of their favorite destinations were New Zealand, Australia, and England. Following Kenís death, Darlene found new independence when she obtained her driverís license for the first time. Even after suffering a stroke in 1993, Darlene did not allow the new challenges she faced from keeping her from living life to its fullest.
Darlene was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Winona, and was also involved in and volunteered for many community activities and charities. Darlene was employed as a bookkeeper at Winona National Bank, Watkins, and her sonís cable business. Her greatest joy in life was that of being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Darlene is lovingly survived by her children: Sam (Stephanie) Wolfe, Shakopee, Minn., Dan (Jonelle) Wolfe, Fountain City, Wis.; grandchildren: Daniela, Damon, Tanya, and Heather; great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Elsie, Easton, and Cambelle; brother, Roger Adank, Fountain City, Wis.; brother-in-law, Duane (Edwina) Wolfe, Winona, Minn.; sister-in-law, Beverly Wolfe, Winona, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, William Adank; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Jack Plapp; sister-in-law, Pat Adank; and brother-in-law, Donald Wolfe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 558 East Broadway in Winona. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Darlene will be laid to rest in the Fountain City Public Cemetery.
