One dead in Lake City standoff (09/29/2013)
On Wednesday, September 25, at 5:19 p.m., Lake City officers attempted to make contact with a male at 517 South Sixth Street in response to a report of threatening text messages and concerns regarding known weapons inside the residence.

Lake City police were assisted by Wabasha County, Goodhue County, State Patrol, Goodhue County Emergency Response Team, and the Lake City ambulance.

A perimeter was established around the residence to ensure public safety, and the local high school was placed on lockdown.

After unsuccessful attempts to communicate with the subject, the Emergency Response Team entered the residence and located the male, identified as Benjamin Anderson, who died as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
