John Edwin Anderson, 82, of Lewiston, Minn., died suddenly Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse with his family by his side.
John was born June 23, 1931, in Winona to Axel W. and Elsie H. (Allen) Anderson. On October 11, 1952, he married Dorthy KÔnstler. John was a lifelong farmer, first farming in the Cedar Valley area and then in the Lewiston area. He was a member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorthy, children, Paul (Renee) and Ruth (Ron) Doblar, both of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Amber) Anderson of Lewiston, Rebecca (Jeremy) Church of Winona, Robert Doblar of Duluth and Ryan Doblar of Fargo, N.D.; five great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kamryn and Avery Anderson, and Skye and Alexis Church; one sister, Margaret (David) Beech of Lewiston and sister-in-law, Barb (Mark) Ernster of Lewiston, nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Melissa Anderson; and one brother, Lyle Anderson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, September 30, at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Lewiston, with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann and Reverend M. John Dermť officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Lewiston and one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Johnís Lutheran Church or donorís choice.
