Film at St. Mane Oct. 18 (10/06/2013)
‘EMPOWERED: Power From the People’ will show at the St. Mane Theatre on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. This documentary is shot in upstate New York in an area with attitudes and terrain not so different from Lanesboro. Tompkins County, N.Y. is one of the cloudiest, least windy places in the country, and yet its residents are proving that they can meet their energy needs through totally renewable resources. From solar and wind to biodiesel and geothermal, this film tells the story of one community’s role in the energy independence revolution. The film follows real people as they build their own solutions for clean energy and sustainable living. “With any luck this movie will help many more people shake up their communities!” says Bill McKibben, author, educator, environmentalist, and Co-founder of 350.org.

‘EMPOWERED: Power From the People’ is the final film this year of the Third Friday Film Series, an educational series sponsored by the Lanesboro Arts Center in partnership with volunteers. Free-will donations help to cover costs of film licensing. The St. Mane Theatre is located at 206 Parkway Ave N in Lanesboro, Minn. 507-467-2446 / www.lanesboroarts.org.
