Have you ever spent a night with a loved one in the hospital, trying to rest in an uncomfortable chair? Patients often become stronger and heal faster when they are with their families, and Winona Health is working on improving the patient environment, one chair at a time.
Proceeds from the 2013 Birthday Ball, “The Big Fall Ball,” will fund reclining chairs for inpatient rooms as well as other furniture for the family waiting rooms. “It is important for patients that are healing to have the company of family members,” says Kris Cichon, Director of Inpatient Services. “The new recliners will allow loved ones to spend the night (if requested), which helps put the patient more at ease. It will also enable staff to be more efficient and patient focused.”
The sleeper chairs are designed to be comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, maneuverable and user-friendly, as well as durable. “Our staff is looking forward to providing comfort and relaxation to both the patients and their families with this new furniture,” said Cichon.
Attendees to the Big Fall Ball will be able to personally try the new chairs, because they will be on display at the event held in October 12 at Visions Event Center. The evening will start with a preball party held at the Summer House at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing to Incognito at the event center.
