Student charged in second gun incident (10/09/2013)
By Jen Burris

On Monday, October 7, a second set of charges was added to the charges already filed against the 15-year-old male student accused of repeatedly bringing a gun on Winona Senior High School property.

On September 20, the juvenile allegedly brought the gun to a Winona Senior High School football game. After the game the student allegedly pulled the gun out of his sweatshirt pocket, held it at waist height, and pointed it at a female student near the tunnel entrance.

The victimís father called police on October 2 to report the incident. Other students present at the time of the incident corroborated the story.

The juvenile, currently held in a secured detention center, is being charged with second-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property related to the incident on September 20.

The juvenile was previously charged with second-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, and terroristic threats related to incidents that occurred in September. At that time the student was accused of pointing a gun at another student.

There will be a community outreach forum to discuss school safety in the Winona Senior High School auditorium on Thursday, October 10, at 6 p.m.
