Board wants parent input on spring break schedule (10/13/2013)
By Jen Burris

At the October 3 Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) Board meeting, members discussed the 2014-2015 calendar year. Last year the School Board voted against incorporating a spring break into the 2013-2014 school year.

Members discussed previous scheduling that has been considered, including holding spring break every other year and eliminating it entirely.

Several members voiced concern over the lack of parent involvement in the decision. Board member Jeanne Nelson explained that spring break impacts the parentsí schedules the most.

The board came to a consensus that a survey would be created to allow parentsí opinions on spring break to be taken into account.

Parents can visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3YQD2WX to take the survey, which will be available until Thursday, October 24.
