NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TO CONSIDER THE DESIGNATION OF

227 WILSON STREET AS A

WINONA HERITAGE PRESERVATION SITE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Winona, Minnesota, will meet in the Council Chambers on the Third Floor of City Hall, 207 Lafayette Street, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2004, to consider the designation of property located at 227 Wilson Street as a Local Winona Heritage Preservation Site.

Historically referenced as the Youmans House, this property (ca. 1912) is historically significant at the local level for its association with Charles M. Youmans, a prominent lumber industry executive. Additionally, the house gains architectural significance at the local level as an excellent example of the Colonial Revival style as designed by Minneapolis architect William Channing Whitney.

Further information may be obtained by contacting the Department of Community Development, Room 210, City Hall at (507) 457-8250.

Dated: July 28, 2004 Monica Hennessy Mohan

City Clerk
