Police: boy found with knife at high school (10/16/2013)
By Jen Burris

A 16-year-old boy, of Dakota, may be charged for possession of a dangerous weapon on school property after a report on Friday, October 4 at 2:40 p.m. at Winona Senior High School.

According to police, a safety specialist witnessed a student enter school property after leaving without permission. The juvenile was subsequently searched and the following items were confiscated: two cans of Copenhagen tobacco, a lighter, and a folding knife.

The student said that he uses the knife at his job, and often forgets that he has it with him.

The incident is still under investigation.
