From the noon kick-off remarks by Mayor Mark Peterson, until the last strains of music faded at nearly 10:00 p.m., the inaugural Live @ the Levee event on October 5 was a resounding success!
First of all, we’d like to thank all that attended. It was truly a community event! The level of attendance, participation, enjoyment, and positive feedback received from all ages throughout the day reinforced our determination to make “Live @ the Levee” an ongoing series of free events. (At this writing, preliminary plans are underway for a December event!)
However, “free” does not mean “without cost.” This event could not have taken place without the generous support of sponsors who stepped up without hesitation to help finance it. We appreciate their monetary, in-kind and/or service contributions, and hope the public will show its appreciation, as well, by supporting those businesses and groups. (See complete list of sponsors, event photos, and future updates at www.liveatthelevee.com.)
We express our thanks for the event exposure given by the radio and TV stations, newspapers, as well as businesses and residents who put up posters and yard signs.
Many thanks go out to the performing artists, sound crew, craft and information vendors, food and beer vendors, activities personnel, volunteers, and unpaid staff. From setup to tear down, everyone worked together like a well-oiled machine.
Again, many thanks and much appreciation to all of you for sharing our vision! We hope to see you next time, “LIVE @ THE LEVEE”!
