Papenfuss, Ellsworth E. (10/27/2013)
Ellsworth E. Papenfuss, age 87, of Wilson Township, died Monday, October 21, 2013, at his farm.

Ellsworth Earl was born May 22, 1926, to Herman and Nora (Armitage) Papenfuss in Homer Township. Ellsworth was one of seven children. He grew up and attended country schools near Pickwick, Minn. Later he worked for farmers in the Wilson area. It was there he met Elaine Balch. They were married on August 6, 1954 at the Witoka Methodist Church.

Ellsworth and Elaine moved to La Crosse, Wis., in 1954 and Ellsworth worked for Dolly Madison Dairy (Kemps Dairy) for 34 years. In 1958, they moved to La Crescent, Minn. Ellsworth never lost his love for the farm. In 1965, he bought a farm near Wilson. From then on, he farmed part time even though he had a full-time job in La Crosse. Ellsworth was a member of the La Crescent United Methodist Church for 44 years.

In 2000, Ellsworth and Elaine moved back to the Wilson area to live on Elaine’s family farm. He was then able to keep actively involved in working on both farms. Besides farming, he thoroughly enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Ellsworth and Elaine joined the Pleasant Valley Church, Winona, in 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; three sons: Duane (Karen) Papenfuss, Winona, Mark (Wendy) Papenfuss, Cambridge, Wis., and Brian (Bridget) Papenfuss, Winona; ten grandchildren: Kelsey, Brody, McKenna, Brianne, Gretchen, Lydia, Pearl, Tyler, and Morgan Papenfuss and Jason Wehausen; a brother Eugene (Idella) Papenfuss, Onalaska, Wis.; and two sisters: Elva Parpart, Lamoille, Minn., and Betty (Rolf) Reissman, Dakota, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Arvid, Weston, and Clyde Papenfuss.

Services to remember Ellsworth will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Church, Winona, with Rev. Rick Iglesias officiating. Interment will be at Witoka Cemetery, Witoka, Minn.

Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Words of sympathy or remembrance may be left at www.fawcett-junkerfuneralhome.com. Services entrusted to Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Winona.
