October 28

DivorceCare and Now DC4K (DivorceCare for Kids) ! DivorceCare is a free 13 week seminar and support group for adults who are separated or divorced. And DC4K is for children ages 5-12 years old whose parents are separated or divorced. Both classes will be starting Monday, October 28. Classes are from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Monday evening at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. To sign up or for more information go to www.divorcecare.org. Click on “find a group” or call 507-452-5518. If you or someone you know is going through a divorce, make sure he or she knows about DivorceCare and DC4K. It might just be the best thing you could do to help.

The annual meeting of the East Winona County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be Monday, October 28, at the American Legion, 302 E. Sarnia Street, Winona. The meal will be served at 6:00 p.m. All who plan to attend are reminded to please R.S.V.P. by October 18th to Debbie Volkmann at (507)429-6411 or volkmann@hbci.com .

Winona Area Retired Educators Association (WAREA) membership meeting Monday, October 28, at 8:30 a.m. at Perkins in Winona. Mark Peterson, Mayor and Winona County Historical Society Director is the featured speaker. Members, spouses and the public are invited. The Lois Club will meet Tuesday, October 29, at 12:30 p.m. at the Country Kitchen .

November 7

Cathedral’s Young at Heart will meet November 7, starting with 12:10 p.m. Mass followed by a lunch of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, baby carrots, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Then Msgr. Colletti will follow with the memorial. Make reservations by calling Marge at 454-3433 no later than November 4. Let her know if you need a ride. All are welcome.

November 10

Winona Area Coin Club will meet Sunday, November 10, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. at the AmericInn, 60 Riverview Drive, Winona. New members welcome. Feel free to bring the kids. There will be items on display for viewing.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Avenue, in the Parkview conference room. Widowed Meet and Eat --- Socialization is the greatest need of widowed people. Come and join us every Monday in October at 11 a.m. at Culvers. Please call Gladys 452-1555 for information.  

The Widowed Persons Social Group (October) meets for breakfast every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. at the Country Kitchen. Dinners every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Ground Round. Last special noon lunch on Wednesday, October 23, at 12 noon at Ginny’s in Rollingstone. Carpooling from the old Econo Foods lot at 11:50 a.m. All widows and widowers and a guest are invited. Caregiver Support Group for Adults Age 55 & Better Group provides an opportunity to meet with other caregivers to exchange helpful tips, give and receive support, as well as learn about new resources. The group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from 2-3 p.m. at the Elder Network office, 1756 Kraemer Drive, Suite 110, Winona.  Contact Renee Kreter at 452-0580 for more information.

Peer Support Network (PSN) is open 7 days per week. Hours are: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m-2 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. PSN is located at 122 West Second St. in Winona.

The Ribbon Warriors cancer support group meets at Callista Court, 1455 W. Broadway, every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We are all women who celebrate that we have had cancer and we are beating it. Ribbon Warriors is open to any woman who has been diagnosed with cancer and would like to come join us. If you have any questions you may call Diane Passehl at 507-452-2679.

Military Order of the Purple Heart meets the first Wednesday of the month at the American Legion, 302 E Sarnia St.  Winona, at 7:00 p.m.  If you are, or know a combat wounded veteran, come join us. Membership is free and we will keep you informed and help you navigate the Veterans Administration.

A new singing society in Winona will begin rehearsals from 7:30-9:30 p.m. every Tuesday, beginning October 1 through October 29, at Jefferson Pub, 58 Center Street, Winona. For further information call Steve at 419-392-4950.
