Last day to comment on Winona Bridge (10/30/2013)
Today is the last day to comment on the Winona bridge project. As required by law, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is seeking public comment on whether it correctly balanced the aesthetic, economic, historical, social, and environmental pros and cons associated with various options for its project to revamp the Mississippi River crossing in Winona. Mn/DOT has proposed constructing a new concrete box girder bridge next to the current bridge and rehabilitating the existing bridge. Among the other options the agency considered are selecting an arch or cable design for the new bridge, demolishing the old bridge and building a single new bridge, and alternative placements for a new bridge —including Pelzer Street, Huff Street, and Mankato Avenue. To comment, send a signed email with the subject “Re: Comments on Winona Bridge Environmental Assessment” to Mr. Terry Ward, Mn/DOT Project Engineer, at terry.ward@state.mn.us.
