Winona’s eighth annual Flippin’ for Books Family Literacy & Wellness Fair will take place on Saturday, November 9, from 8:30-11:30am, at the Winona Senior High School. Flippin’ for Books is a free event for the whole family, specially planned for children ages 0 to 5, providing a wide variety of fun and educational activities.
The event starts off with a free breakfast—pancakes, sausage & fruit—served until 10am by NHS student volunteers. Join us for breakfast and stay for the fun!
As in previous years, every child attending Flippin’ for Books will be given a new book to keep and enjoy, courtesy of the Winona Early Childhood Initiative and Winona Public Library. Children will also have the opportunity to enjoy storytelling with special guest readers!
Flippin’ for Books will offer lots of literacy- and wellness-related activities, with a morning line-up including fun with facepaint, a variety of crafts facilitated by WSU Children’s Literacy students; healthy snack ideas with Hy-Vee; puppets and musical instruments; chair massages from Winona Health; and gym activities with the YMCA and WSU’s Galaxy gymnasts.
Resource tables from many area organizations will share information with families.
Parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services offered by SMU’s Page Theater, Park Rec, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, ECFE, several local childcare centers & preschools, area healthcare providers and more. An ambulance and firetruck will also be present for children to view outside.
Flippin’ for Books is sponsored by Winona Public Library, Winona YMCA, and the Winona Early Childhood Initiative.
