Fifty years is a long time to be doing something, and they say doing something over and over expecting a different result is insanity, so with that said I guess I’m crazy, but on November 30, I will be celebrating my fifty years of crazy with a musical party at Wellington’s Lounge in the Westgate Bowl, and all are invited.
Music for me has been my life’s passion. It all started with a few guys getting together to form a band back in 1963. Originally called the Wescotts, the name was changed to the Fabulous Ferraris, being that surf music was in vogue. Our lead guitar player even had a ‘51 Chevy woody! Eventually we changed the name to North Country, from hard rock to country rock.
Through years of changing musical trends and different combinations of musicians and bands, and with solo performances, the focus has always been on the music. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to make so many people happy and enjoy themselves with just strumming on that guitar.
On November 30, Mudcat and the Bottomfeeders will be joined by current and past collaborators in a journey down memory lane and performances by many musicians I’ve known over the years.
The music will start at 7 p.m., and go until midnight. There will be snack trays provided. Stop by for a listen and share a memory. Might even be some free CD’s. Although there will be no cover, I will be “passing the hat” to pay all these wonderful and talented people.
