Brand, Gerald (Jerry) Arnold (11/10/2013)
August 21, 1941 -

November 1, 2013

Jerry, 72, reluctantly submitted to a 10-year battle with Parkinsonís disease.

He was the son of Clarence and Gretchen Brand (deceased). He grew up in Winona and was a member of St. Martinís Lutheran Church, and a 1960 graduate of Winona Senior High School.

After graduation, he moved to Minneapolis to attend Dunwoody Industrial Institute. Two years later, (1962) with diploma in hand, he set out to pursue a promising and rewarding career in the printing industry. He met and married the love of his life, Delores Krenz. Together they formed and operated G and D Printing.

Jerry was active in many facets of life. He built antique Pontiacs and was a past president of the Pontiac Tomahawk Car Club, Chairman of Brooklyn Park Tater days, 25-year Rotarian, Brooklyn Park, member Minneapolis Lodge #44 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, 25-year member and committee volunteer Winona Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

An avid snowmobiler, he was a founding member of the SnowLanders Snowmobile Club of Brooklyn Park and a Minnesota Snowmobile Safety Instructor.

Jerry and Delores bought land and built a cabin in the Kife Lake area - a snowmobile hub for family and friends.

He raised homing pigeons and after admiring their flight for over 40 years, decided to learn how to fly. He loved the outdoors, and spent many years in pursuit of wild turkeys and whitetails.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Delores, of Brooklyn Park; son, Brian (Lori) Brand and grandchildren Brian Jr., Hunter and Erik of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Jody (Adam) Lagerquist and daughters Alexis and Emma of Hugo, Minn.; and sisters Karen Sampson of La Crosse and Bonny Pettigrew of Santa Clarita, Calif.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the Evans Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, MN 55429.

Memorials may be sent to North Memorial Hospice Home Health, 3500 France Avenue No., Suite 101, Robbinsdale, Minn., 55422.
