The Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) in Winona not only has one of the most prominent collections in the Upper Midwest, but also offers many family friendly experiences. In celebration of the Museum’s Tri-State Invitational exhibition 3 Women from 3 States, the Art Museum is presenting a free family program called Fall Art-Venture: Water Collage, led by award winning Museum educator Heather Casper. The program will take place on Saturday, November 23rd from 1 – 2:30 p.m. and is designed for families with youth ages 6 and older. Due to space limitations, registration is required by calling (507) 474-6626.
During this program, families will have the chance to explore the Museum’s galleries in a fun and engaging way, and then create watery artworks inspired by the abstract paintings and assemblages of Iowa artist Nancy Purington. This is a great opportunity for youth and participating parents to create, and enjoy a meaningful art experience together while nurturing creativity.
There is always something new to experience at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, a nonprofit art museum and educational center supported by over 1,000 members, donors, granters and sponsors. It is located at 800 Riverview Drive in Winona and is surrounded by acres of native prairie gardens along the Mississippi River. Gallery and MMAM Store hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. More information about the Museum is available at their new website, www.mmam.org.
