Winona Oratorio Chorus November 16 (11/12/2013)
The Winona Oratorio Chorus presents ELIJAH; an oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn. Join us on Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Main Street, Winona for this explosive and lyrical telling of the story of Elijah. Drawn largely from the Biblical episodes of the prophet Elijah, Felix Mendelssohnís dramatic, emotional oratorio is one of the great choral works of all time. Powerful and theatrical, tender and sublime-this masterpiece will leave you breathless! Joining the chorus to perform the part of Elijah is Alan Dunbar whose performances include appearances with the Santa Fe Opera and their Symphony, The Tanglewood Music Festival, and he won the grand prize at the 2009 International Grieg Festival. Mezzo-soprano Monica Armstrong, Alto Lacy Sauter and Tenor Christopher Sokolowski, as well as Noah Yuvienko a boy soprano with the La Crosse BoyChoir will round out the solo performances of the piece. Adding to the beauty of the piece is a 24 piece or chestra and the Cathedralís majestic organ.

Winona Oratorio Chorus is a community organization made up of people of all ages and all walks of life who share one common dream: to make great choral music come alive in Winona. Membership in this chorus is open to anyone who has a love of music and who can make a commitment to a regular rehearsal schedule. Tickets will be available at the door: Adults $18 and students $12.
