Luedtke, Herman ‘Bud’ A. (11/12/2013)

Herman “Bud” A. Luedtke, age 90, of Winona, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at Sauer Health Care, Winona.

Bud was born June 10, 1923, in Warren Township, Winona County, Minn., to Herman H. and Emma (Block) Luedtke. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 1944 to July 1946 and was a Bronze Star recipient.

On December 27, 1947, he married Marjorie Brennan in Decorah, Iowa. Bud was an over the road truck driver for many years. He also was the manager of Morningside Terrace Apartments and drove city bus after he retired. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Winona and American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9, Winona.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, Winona; three children: Brian (Chris) Luedtke, Rochester, Minn., Barbara (Ron) Ellinghuysen, Minnesota City, Minn., and Sheri (Luedtke) Atchison, LaCrescent, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joan (Mike) Asmus, Burleson, Tex.; sisters: Erma Arndt, Winona, Helen Braatz, Winona, Arlene Hass, of Florida, Mildred “Millie” Fein, St. Charles, Minn.; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott, four brothers and one sister.

Services to remember Bud will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Winona, with Rev. Paul F. Welke officiating. Interment will be at Pickwick Cemetery, Pickwick, Minn. Military burial rites will be provided by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9, Winona, Minn.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Winona.

Words of sympathy or remembrance may be left at www.fawcett-junkerfuneralhome.com. Services entrusted to Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Winona, Minn.
