Florence R. Rother received her crown of life on Monday, November 11, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. She made her promise to be faithful at her confirmation on May 22, 1932.
Florence was born on March 5, 1920, at her parents farm at Wilson, Minnesota. Her parents were John and Clara (Ellinghuysen) Rupprecht. She married Herbert J. Rother, her loving Hudsy, on June 21, 1941, at Wilson. They were blessed with two adopted children, David and Mary, and we in turn were greatly blessed to have them as Mom and Dad.
Mom was a wonderful mother, taking great care in providing a loving and comfortable home for her husband and children, and more importantly teaching us the love of God. Her beautiful garden, flowers and sewing brought her much joy. She greatly loved her brothers and sister and their families, enjoying many happy hours celebrating all their birthdays and holidays. She especially loved her grandchildren and great- grandchildren
Mom was the last charter member of Goodview Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and was always an active participant in the Ladies Guild, the L.W.M.S., Bible Class, and a leader of the Lutheran Girls Pioneers and many other activities.
She is survived by her son, David and daughter, Mary (Dean) Schroeder, both of Caledonia; her grandchildren, Todd (Danyel) Schroeder, Jason (Melissa) Schroeder and Tara (Steve) Barnes; her great grandchildren, Austin, Noah, Elisha, Victoria, Gavin, Samantha, Trysten, Mason, Deena, Lara and Sarah; sister, Arlene Stender; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rupprecht, Betty Rupprecht and Carol Rupprecht; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert, on September 16, 1994; brothers, Donald, Melvin and Edgar; and sister-in-law, Lavern Rupprecht.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Goodview Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church after 10 a.m on Wednesday.
Active casket bearers will be Dean Schroeder, Austin Schroeder, Todd Schroeder, Jason Schroeder, Gavin Schroeder and Steve Barnes.
Honorary bearers will be Wayne Stender, Larry Rupprecht, Richard Rupprecht, Tim Rupprecht and John Rupprecht.
