The 13th annual Winona Art Walk (formerly Christmas Art Walk) will be held 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, November 23, again the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Here’s a chance to support the local economy and over 30 regional artists who make glass, jewelry, paintings, ceramics, carvings, wood, textiles, photography, baskets, Christmas ornaments and more.
Teresa Schumaker Studio, 676 W. 5th St, with stoneware pottery will host two other artists: Matt Feuerhelm hand painted silk scarves; and Joni Lynch, pocket mittens; and Some Sum Studio, 168 E 3rd St, will show paintings by Joel Jannetto.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM), 800 Riverview Dr., will again be a part of the Art Walk. Admission fees apply to MMAM galleries. Visitors can enjoy one of the best collections of art in the Upper Midwest including masterpieces by Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and many others. There are also two exhibitions featuring some of the most prolific artists from the region, including Leo & Marilyn Smith, Julia Crozier, Jennifer Terpstra, and Nancy Purington. Visit Yarnology in their new downtown location at 65 E. 3rd St. Owners Gaby Peterson and Kelly Momsen will feature gorgeous yarns from around the world, classes for beginners and improvers, and a welcoming place to sit and create!
Magnolias gift shop, 177 Lafayette St., is a ‘must see’ now representing 15 area artists. In addition to baskets and quilted runners, quilted wall hangings, handmade soaps, colorful aprons, local photography, ceramics, hobo bags and felted wool purses, Magnolias also carries Christmas ornaments, Polish pottery, Winona mittens, & metal décor.
For the third year a group of artists who often open their studios will be set up a Gallery for a Day at the Senior Center, 5th & Main. Artists include the following: Lynette Power, Rivertown Pottery, joins the Art Walk with clay sculptures, oil lamps, wall pockets with bromeliad air plants, and assorted pottery. Bernadette Mahfood, Hotflash Designs will be showing decorative glass tiles as well as her exquisite glass bead and fiber jewelry. See her fun new earring designs. And Walken Ratajczyk will have his latest kilnformed glass work available for sale. Mary Singer will show her latest paintings together with Julia Crozier with newest art work, Maryann and Rick Frietsche with their gemstone & silver jewelry, Julie Johnston and Cathy Missaghi with her paintings. New this year includes Roger Meyer with his turned wood bowls and Robert Keiper with flint knapped knives and pendants at the Gallery for a Day.
