The Fourth Annual Fall Fair Trade Market, sponsored by Winona’s FTM group Many Hands Many Lands, takes place this Saturday, November 16, on the second floor of the historic Winona Knitting Mills Building, 902 E. Second Street. Doors open at 8 a.m., and the event lasts until 3 p.m.
The Market features unique hand-crafted gift items from around the world, more than 30 countries, made available through Fair Trade. This means that virtually all the purchase price goes directly to the producers of the goods, who are usually in under-privileged cultures who wouldn’t otherwise have access to more prosperous audiences and economies. Buyers have the joy of knowing that they are at the same time acquiring especially enchanting one-of-a-kind articles, and helping working people in developing economies help themselves.
Items include jewelry and jewelry boxes, figurines, decoratives, articles of clothing, coffee and chocolates, greeting cards, quilts and other sewn and woven goods….the list is extensive. Refreshments are available, admission is free. For more information, contact volunteer John Kennedy at 507-450-4708, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
