Sunday, November 3

• At 12:20 p.m. police received a call from an Idaho man who reported his credit card had been used to make a $2,750 purchase at the Winona Walmart. Police said video surveillance showed a black man wearing a green jacket, blue plaid shirt, and baseball cap use the card to purchase Walmart gift cards. Walmart deactivated the gift cards and police are investigating the incident.

Tuesday, November 5

• At 10:08 a.m. police were called to the 250 block of Orrin Street on a report of a theft. A resident there claimed that Shane Richard Oevering, 34, of Winona, stole her Wii gaming system, valued at $300, and pawned it. Police cited Oevering for misdemeanor theft.

Saturday, November 9

• At 2:41 p.m. police were called to Kmart on a report of shoplifters. Two men allegedly stole three flatscreen televisions and five DVDs. Police said the items were valued at $1,370. Both suspects were described as white men taller than 5’9”. One had short, shaved hair and was wearing a dark jacket and pants, estimated to weigh approximately 200 pounds. The second suspect was wearing a dark jacket with sleeves of a lighter color, believed to weigh approximately 175 pounds.

Tues., November 12

• At 4:25 p.m. police received a report that an employee at Kmart had stolen items and cash. Sarah Marie Larkin, 19, of Winona, allegedly fraudulently refunded $343.09 and stole clothing valued at $270. She was referred to the Winona City Attorney for potential charges of gross misdemeanor theft.

Wed., November 13

• At 1:26 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Third and Johnson streets for having expired vehicle registration tabs. The driver, Brandon Roger Walden, 28, of Winona, allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was cited for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content measured at .13 percent.

• At 7:29 p.m. police received a call from an employee at Shopko reporting a shoplifter. Police cited Judith Ann Wetzel, 65, of Rollingstone, for theft by shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to steal $209.66 in merchandise from the store.

• At 9:18 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Seventh and Huff streets after the driver allegedly made an illegal turn at Broadway and Huff streets. Police said the odor of burnt marijuana was present inside the vehicle. The driver, Daniel Richard Hennes, 18, of Shakopee, Minn., was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police said 29.5 grams of the drug were found inside the vehicle.

Friday, November 15

• At 1:55 a.m. police stopped a vehicle driven by Ross Richard Blondell, 23, of Winona, at Broadway and Main Street. An officer had looked up the vehicle’s license plate number and noticed that the registration tabs did not match the expired tabs that were registered to the vehicle. Blondell reportedly admitted to affixing registration tabs from another vehicle he owned onto the vehicle he was driving. He was cited for gross misdemeanor intent to escape motor vehicle tax.
