Winona resident Stewart Shaw, a longtime leader of The Arc in Minnesota and of Home and Community Options, will be honored as one of the Heroes of The Arc on December 6, 2013. The Arc Minnesota is recognizing Stewart at its annual Heroes Luncheon that day in Roseville, Minn.
Shaw began his involvement in The Arc when his second son, David, was born with Down syndrome in St. Paul. He and his wife, Kay, joined the local chapter of The Arc there, and he began working on projects to improve educational, employment, recreational, and living opportunities for David and others with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He eventually became a leader with The Arc Minnesota and served as its board president.
”The Heroes of The Arc Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on December 6th, at the Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, Minn.
