Ann M. Schultz, age 87, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 24, 1926, in Winona, to Leonard and Frances (Mlynczak) Wachowiak. She was united in marriage with George E. Schultz on May 7, 1955, in Winona. George preceded her in death on June 30, 2001.
Ann was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, Harvest House, the Shriners Auxiliary, and she enjoyed playing 500 at Westfield Golf Club on Tuesdays.
She will be remembered for her excellent cooking, baking, canning, and crocheting. She also enjoyed tending her flower garden – especially her roses — card playing, babysitting her grandchildren, and using her gift of gab to socialize with her friends. Ann was employed by several local businesses as a bookkeeper, but her favorite job was that of being a mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Ann is lovingly survived by her children: Georganne (Scott) Kaehler, Winona, Jeanne (Philip) Handke, Stockton, Minn., Mary Schultz, Winona, Elizabeth (Brian) Kulas-Volk, Jordan, Minn., grandchildren: Leah Rice, Kyle Handke, Michaela Handke, Samantha Kulas, Dominic Kulas, Vanya Schultz, Andrei Schultz, Trisha Kaehler and Seth Kaehler, great-grandchildren: Ainsley Rice, Charlie Rice, Abel Stinson, and Savannah Stinson; a sister, Eleanor Wahlstrom, Rochester, Minn., as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bill, brother, Stan Wachowiak; and sister, Therese Kleinschmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. Father James Berning will officiate.
Ann will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
