8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, Houston Nature Center.
Looking for a different kind of hooting and hollering on New Year’s Eve? Spend the evening calling for owls in Houston! We could see or hear Eastern Screech-Owls, Barred Owls, Great Horned Owls, and maybe even Saw-whet Owls. We’ll spend a short time discussing how to call in owls, then we’ll carpool to our owling spots in and around Houston. Wild owls can be unpredictable in their responses, but Alice the Great Horned Owl is always a sure bet.
Dress warmly, and try to wear clothes that don’t make noise when you move. Feel free to bring leftover Christmas cookies to share for refreshments when we come back in from the cold. Meet at the Houston Nature Center at 8:00 p.m. and expect to be back between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m.
This program is open to the public, and we request a $5 donation per person. The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Hwys. 16 & 76 in Houston in Trailhead Park. Call 507-896-4668 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Check our Facebook page or call to check for cancellation in case of bad weather.
