High-speed chase results in arrest (12/18/2013)
On Saturday, December 14, Austin Ratkus, 19, was taken into custody by Trempealeau Police officers after a high-speed chase.

At 11:32 p.m., officers attempted to pull over a vehicle for traffic violations. The vehicle failed to stop for officers. Speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour. The pursuit lasted approximately 17 minutes. During the pursuit, Ratkus struck a squad car on two separate occasions. There were three passengers in the vehicle and they all jumped out of the vehicle during the pursuit. No one was injured.

Ratkus finally pulled over voluntarily and was arrested. The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department and the Galesville Police Department assisted with the pursuit. The incident is under investigation.

Ratkus is being held in the Trempealeau County Jail until his court appearance.
