Gordon F. “Gordie” Fakler, 75, of Winona, Minn., died on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona.
Gordie was born on December 5, 1938, in Winona, Minn., to Fred and Marie (Paape) Fakler. He was raised in Winona and attended Winona Senior High School.
Gordie married Theresa Gilgosh. They were later divorced. He worked with his father at Fakler Construction; he also worked for Quarve and Anderson Construction, and then started his own business, Fakler Lime Products. Gordie also mowed lawn at Cedar Valley Golf Course for 15 years.
Gordie was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Winona Bowling Hall of Fame and was the ‘High Average Bowler’ in Winona for several years. Gordie enjoyed golfing, going to casinos, and playing cards at Westfield Golf Course.
He is survived by his ex-wife and companion, Theresa Fakler; three sons: Greg (Theresa) Fakler of West Allis, Wis., Brian (Gwendolyn) Fakler, and Jeff (Cris) Fakler, both of Winona; six grandchildren: Michelle, Colin, Drew, Meghan, Payne, and Kaitlyn Riley; and by a brother, Paul (Qumie She) Fakler of Zapata, Tex.
Gordie was preceded in death by his parents.
A family directed celebration of Gordie’s life will take place at a later date.
