Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, at the Ag Service Center, 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston.
The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, January 9, at 7:00 p.m., on the 2nd floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. Walter Steiner’s presentation on “The Civil War and Higher Education in Winona” should appeal to all those interested in our local history. All are invited, and refreshments will be served.
Next monthly meeting of the Friends of the Winona Public Library: Saturday, January 11, 9 a.m. in the library Art Room. All are welcome. Our organization promotes and fundraises to support the programs and collections offered by the library.
Ruskin will meet on January 13, at Central Lutheran Church with the program beginning at 1:00 p.m. Beth Moe will serve as hostess and Margaret Shaw Johnson will co-host. The paper will be given by Nancy Nelson.
The January 13, monthly board meeting of the Stockton, Rollingstone. Minnesota City Watershed District will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet on January 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. We will say the rosary and have the regular meeting. We will then play bingo.
Harvest House, a non-profit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, January 15, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting. Our speaker will be a member of the Winona Police Department to speak on the “Granny Scam”. Bring a non-perishable food item for a needy family. Lunch will be served. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness. Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.
