Steve Jacob is once again showing his true colors. This guy that made such a big deal out of supposedly doing what his constituents elected him to do, is now trying to entice the rest of the county board to once again start receiving per diems ó payments for attending meetings. This policy of not accepting the payments was adopted in 2009 by commissioners much wiser, and with far more scruples than Jacob could ever imagine, as a way to save taxpayer money. Jacob stated in an interview in March that the salary and mileage were adequate, and meeting payments were not necessary. Now, he claims that some of the commissioners are simply going to make up for the per diem by simply not showing up for meetings, thereby depriving the taxpayer out of representation. How about some names here, Steve? Sounds more like a lot of BS! It seems the salary of over $24,000 plus mileage, would be more than adequate for a part-time job.
In the March interview, Jacob also stated that ďitís not about the money, itís about the business of Winona County and representing the wishes of the constituents.Ē What it really looks like is putting a few more bucks in Jacobís pockets. Steve, listen to what your fellow commissioners are trying to tell you and just do the job you are paid to do and quit whining! You ran a really slick campaign to get your job, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.
